Armas: The EU will be cautious about introducing new sanctions on Pristina

The EU currently does not have a clear stance on imposing new sanctions on Pristina, Julianna Armas, coordinator of the Western Balkans Group at the Hungarian Institute for International Affairs, says for Kosovo Online.
She reminds that after the incident in Banjska, there was no agreement among the member states, parties, or EU institutions regarding sanctions.
"I would say that the sanctions imposed last year after the incident in northern Kosovo will remain in place, but the EU is uncertain at this moment and is very cautious about it. Therefore, despite public statements and declarations, they will wait a little longer and be cautious about introducing new sanctions," Armas believes.
She adds that the EU still considers the current situation somewhat stable.
"Sanctions could trigger new tensions. And at this moment, they assess the situation as somewhat stable, and in a way, they are satisfied with it," Armas concludes.
