Bajraktari: The law is not clear enough, but it defines the Government's obligation to resign

Lawyer and former secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Ardian Bajraktari, told Kosovo Online that Article 26 of the Law on the Government clearly defines the government's obligation to resign if new members of the Kosovo Assembly are elected, but he notes that the law is not sufficiently clear.

Bajraktari says that the obligation of the current government to resign is a very controversial issue, although he believes it should be implemented.

"It should be noted that since March 23, after the four-year mandate of the Government ended, the Republic of Kosovo has had a government that, according to the Law on the Government, has a limited mandate in exercising its functions and duties. Now, a president and vice-president of the Assembly need to be elected, followed by the formation of a new government as soon as possible," Bajraktari stated.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has scheduled the constitutive session of the Assembly for April 15.
