Belgrade supports the Lajcak process for the formation of the CSM

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, together with Ambassador Marko Djuric, spoke today with the ambassadors and representatives of the Quint countries in Belgrade and the representative of the European Union Delegation about the necessity of forming the CSM, the last round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which was recently held in Brussels as well as about the political and security situation in Kosovo.

Petkovic conveyed a clear message from Belgrade about the necessity of the formation of the CSM, for which the Serbs in Kosovo have been waiting for 11 years, and in this sense, pointed out that Belgrade highly appreciates and supports the efforts made by the EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak in starting the process of forming the CSM.

Petkovic and Djuric reiterated Belgrade's position that the draft of the CSM Statute drafted by the EU, which concerns the jurisdiction and structure of the CSM, as agreed in the 2013 and 2015 agreements, can be a good basis for continuing discussions and agreements on the final CSM Statute, it has been announced from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

They once again explained to the interlocutors the entire process of forming the CSM and the role of the Management Team, the representative body of the Serbs from Kosovo, which was formally confirmed by Belgrade and the EU and Pristina, and which, according to the agreements, is responsible for drafting the Draft that was presented to the high-level dialogue on May 2.

Petkovic reminded the interlocutors that the Belgrade delegation had several constructive meetings last year on the Draft CSM Statute with EU experts, but that, unfortunately, those discussions stopped at the moment when Albin Kurti made a unilateral decision to abolish the dinar in Kosovo.

Any essential progress in the dialogue on the issue of the CSM for Belgrade is important, and that is why the Serbian delegation, in addition to the Draft Statute of the Management Team, also accepted the work on the Draft Statute of the EU, namely in the part that deals with the concrete steps for the formation of the CSM, without prejudice to status issues , Petkovic added.

In accordance with that, he added, Belgrade has expressed its full readiness to continue those discussions on the Statute where they unnecessarily left off, and that without any fault of Belgrade.

On the issue of the dinar, Petkovic pointed out that the talks in Brussels were difficult and that the Belgrade delegation presented its proposals and comments for solving the crisis caused by Pristina's decision to suspend the use of the dinar in the province and payment transactions with central Serbia, stressing that this problem must be to be solved urgently, because it calls into question the physical survival of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Petkovic used the opportunity to remind the interlocutors that Pristina refused to form the CSM for 11 years and that all the problems created by Albin Kurti's regime stem from that fact.

In addition, he added that the daily violence carried out by the Pristina regime against Serbs and the naked hatred towards everything Serbian in Kosovo threatens the hard-won stability on the ground and in the entire region.

Petkovic also informed the interlocutors about the recently held referendum for the removal of fake Albanian mayors in the north of Kosovo, which, he pointed out, was designed in advance to fail and to enable Kurti to continue exercising power in four Serbian municipalities with 3.5 percent voter support.

"And for all that, for the most flagrant violation of the human rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, which is taking place before the eyes of the international community, it turns out that the temporary authorities in Pristina have unfortunately been rewarded by starting the procedure for membership in the Council of Europe, which is happening without any established procedure. which is why this injustice should be resisted in this oldest European organization," said Petkovic.

At the end of the conversation, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concluded that Belgrade has fulfilled all its obligations from the Brussels Dialogue and that it continues to participate in further discussions in the best faith that we need to preserve peace on the ground and achieve a common solution and compromise.
