Berisha: Kurti is using the Albanians in North Macedonia; he wants to cause conflicts
The President of the ‘Matica Albanaca’ in Serbia, Demo Berisha, assessed today that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was using the opposition parties of Albanians in North Macedonia in order to achieve his war plan and cause conflicts, RTV reports.
When asked to comment on Kurti's visit to North Macedonia and how it could affect the stability in the region, especially considering that Kurti had gone privately to another country where he had propagated a "Greater Albania", Berisha said that he was not surprised considering that, as he said, Kurti's political teacher had been Adem Demaci, who had been in prison for the same politics.
"That idea of his was introduced into the program of Albin Kurti's party, and he is only realizing it with the aim of doing two things. One is to put pressure on the European Union, and his real idea is for him to be the leader of all Albanians in the Western Balkans. He will continue to provoke," Berisha said.
He says that we should not forget the fact that a few years ago, Albanians and Macedonians in North Macedonia "warred" over positions and that they "barely" reached some level of cooperation.
"Now, Albin Kurti is completely using the opposition party of the Albanians in North Macedonia in order to realize his war plan, and that war plan of his is the idea of expanding it to the central part of Serbia, i.e. to the 'Presevo valley'. In his performances, he talks about eastern Kosovo, and not about central Serbia. He believes that the 'Presevo valley' is a part of eastern Kosovo, and therefore he drew a target at the head of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic," Berisha believes.
He assessed that it was a "sick idea of Kurti's" and that if he did not succeed in this, it could be expected that he would try to provoke conflicts in the north of Kosovo, which would be transferred to the conflict between the Serbian Army and KFOR.
On Friday, during an unofficial visit to North Macedonia, Kurti met only with the leaders of the Albanian opposition parties and attended the renaming of the street "Second Macedonian Brigade" to "Adem Demaci Street", in the Skopje municipality of Chair.
At the gathering in the center of Tetovo during Kurti's visit, the flag of the "Greater Albania", which includes parts of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Greece, was displayed.
