EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said today that he was satisfied with the agreement on license plates, which was reached yesterday in Brussels, because it would help to overcome the crisis, and added that now the focus of the conversation would be able to shift to normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, RTV reports.

"Yesterday, when I landed in Barcelona, I could share that the agreement was reached thanks to EU mediation and my representative who led the talks," said Borrell at a press conference after the seventh Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean.

He pointed out that Belgrade and Pristina accepted the proposal that would help to overcome the crisis.

"Now we can finally focus on what is most important, which is the establishment of normal relations between Belgrade and Pristina," he said.

He emphasized that Belgrade has agreed to stop issuing license plates, and that Pristina has committed to stop applying the punitive measure it announced.

"I think the proposal is reasonable. Both parties said that what was signed earlier would be implemented," Borrell pointed out.

He added that it was also agreed to continue talks in Brussels on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

"I think that this is a very important agreement and that it prevents the danger of the outbreak of another crisis that could cause an escalation of violence in the north of Kosovo," Borrell said.

Borrell expressed the hope that with the support of the international community, discussions on the proposal, which had the full support of Germany and France, would be continued, in order to achieve a permanent solution in the relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
