The Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabic, met in Prague, on the sidelines of the Globsec Forum, with the European Union’s Special Envoy for Dialogue, Peter Sorensen. She said she conveyed to him that Belgrade is always ready for talks, but that there is no interlocutor on the other side, because Albin Kurti is a man who does not want dialogue, but rather wants to expel the Serbian people from Kosovo.

“I told him openly that Belgrade has always been ready for talks for the sake of peace and stability, and that, regardless of everything, we have always respected international law and the UN Charter. We view Kosovo and Metohija as our autonomous province, but we want to talk in order to preserve peace and stability, and to ensure that stability for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” Brnabic told reporters in Prague.

She stressed that the problem is that there is no other side to talk to.

“It has never been worse than it is now under Albin Kurti. He does not want dialogue, nor is he a pragmatic politician. He is entirely a man of ideology, and his ultimate goal is to completely expel not only the Serbian people from Kosovo and Metohija, but all other non-Albanians as well,” Brnabic stated.

She also pointed out to her interlocutor that, if they wish to continue supporting him, they cannot count on a multiethnic Kosovo.

“They must understand that. Whoever else was at the head of the provisional institutions in Pristina, we had dialogue. We never agreed, and we never will, but we talked, resolved some problems, looked for ways to build at least some bridges, and to have stability and security. But that is absolutely impossible while Kurti is on the other side, because he is not interested in that. His only goal is to expel Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija and create impossible living conditions for them,” Brnabic said.
