CEC: Registration of citizens living outside Kosovo for mayoral elections in the north has begun

The Central Election Commission announced that the registration of citizens living outside of Kosovo for the extraordinary elections for mayors in the municipalities of Severna Mitrovica (North Mitrovica), Leposavic, Zvecan, and Zubin Potok began today, Reporteri newspaper reported.

The application deadline is November 30, 2022.

"During this period, citizens of Kosovo who live outside of Kosovo can submit a request for registration to vote by mail for the extraordinary elections for mayor in these four municipalities. Those who do not have Kosovo citizenship, but have the right to do so according to the Law on Citizenship, can also apply," the announcement states.

The Central Election Commission encourages all citizens with the right to vote, who live outside of Kosovo and who meet the relevant legal criteria, to exercise their right to register and then, after registration, to vote by mail from December 9 to 16.

The most important party of the Serbs in Kosovo, the Serb List, which won over 95 percent of the votes in the previous elections, does not want to participate in these elections because the Serbs who left the Kosovo institutions ten days ago, announced that their condition for participation in the institutions of Pristina was full implementation Brussels Agreement and the formation of the Community of Serb-Majority Municipalities.
