CEC: Only three political entities registered for the elections in the north, the deadline expires today
The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, announced that as of November 15, three political entities applied for local elections in four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, of which only one submitted the names of candidates for all four municipalities, while the other two had candidates only for one municipality each, Ekonomia online portal reported.
The deadline for candidates to register for the extraordinary elections to be held on December 18 expires today at 4 pm.
As Elezi stated, so far the Democratic Party of Kosovo has submitted the names of four candidates for the municipalities of North Mitrovica (Severna Mitrovica), Leposavic, Zvecan, and Zubin Potok, while the Mitrovica Civic Initiative has a candidate for North Mitrovica, and the Kosovan Serb Party has a candidate for Leposavic.
On Monday, November 21, the Central Election Commission extended the application deadline by four days.
The most important party of the Serbs in Kosovo, the Serb List, which won over 95 percent of the votes in the previous elections, does not want to participate in these elections because the Serbs who left the Kosovo institutions ten days ago, announced that their condition for participation in the institutions of Pristina was full implementation Brussels Agreement and the formation of the Community of Serb-Majority Municipalities.
