Dacic on the decision of the PACE Political Committee: Violation of Serbia's national and state interests

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated that the decision of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe regarding the recommendation for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe represented a direct violation of Serbia's national and state interests, as well as a violation of Serbia's territorial integrity, as reported by Pink.

Dacic says that this did not have to be done so urgently and adds that someone obviously assessed that it was inconvenient for Pristina to be under criticism and that it was time to pressure Serbia to resolve something before the elections in the United States.

"You cannot resolve the issue of Kosovo's status in one way and then resolve the issue of Ukraine in another way. This decision represents a direct violation of our national and state interests, a violation of our territorial integrity," Dacic said.

He added that this decision was contrary to all the principles on which the Council of Europe was based.

"That is the political reality we live in. For such issues, two-thirds or half of the votes are needed, counting those who vote, not counting those who did not vote or abstained," Dacic said, adding that the final decision is expected in May.

Dacic also says that all decisions regarding Serbia are made outside of all procedures and rules.
