The Political Committee of the PACE has given the green light for Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe

The Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe today gave a positive opinion regarding Kosovo's request to become a member of this organization. In the voting, 31 members voted "for," four were against, and one abstained.

The two votes against came from Serbian members, with one vote against each from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, while Greek member Alexis Tsipras abstained.

During the committee meeting in Paris, the report by Greek lawmaker Dora Bakoyannis recommending Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe was voted on.

The next step is for Kosovo's request to become a member of the Council of Europe to be considered in the plenary session of PACE, where another vote will take place, and the PACE session is expected to take place on April 18th.

The final decision on whether Kosovo will become a member of the Council of Europe will be made by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

"After the discussion in which we participated and presented our views, emphasizing that Kosovo is not a state, will never be, and that Kosovo and Metohija are an integral part of Serbia, that human rights are violated in Kosovo and Metohija, that they have violated international law, and that not all three conditions mentioned by Bakoyannis two weeks ago have been met, the session concluded with the adoption of the report with 31 votes 'in favor'," Biljana Pantic Pilja, head of the Serbian delegation to PACE, said in a statement to Kosovo Online.
