Dacic: Two possible outcomes in Brussels, common sense or riots

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, stated that there were two possible outcomes of today's meetings in Brussels, one that common sense prevailed, and the other was that an incident could occur. Dacic hopes that the international community will put pressure on Pristina, RTRS reports.

"It is clear who can initiate these types of incidents and the address for pressure is completely clear. Whether someone wants that pressure to be directed towards Pristina or not, the international community has to clear that up with itself," Dacic told Tanjug.

Dacic expressed the hope that the international community would put pressure on Pristina not to implement repressive measures against the Serbian people, because this, he warned, could lead to a serious disruption not only of public order and peace but also of regional peace and stability.

He also says that the meeting in Brussels to which the President of Serbia was invited is, in this situation, completely unnecessary, that is, if someone wanted to create pressure and prevent incidents in Kosovo, it was enough to just invite Prime Minister Albin Kurti, given that he is the party causing the trouble.

"Serbia has never rejected dialogue and we will always participate in all of this. We are fighting for the application of the Brussels Agreement, unlike Kurti, not only that he does not want the Brussels Agreement to be applied, but he wants to complicate the situation, with unilateral acts, as much as possible," Dacic said.

He emphasized that Kurti planned that the Albanian side occupied the north of Kosovo, that is, to extend the entire sovereignty to the north, which they believe is sufficient for the declaration of a state, bearing in mind that this had not been the case so far. He pointed out that precisely because of this attitude of Pristina, the Serbian people did not take lightly what is happening around the license plates and assessed that it was another attempt by the Albanian side to force the Serbs to recognize Kosovo in a perfidious way.

He reminded that the Albanian side was forcing the Serbian police officers to apply punishments to their people, and he adds that this is the reason why the decision was made for the Serbs to leave the institutions until such a decision is withdrawn, i.e. until the formation of the community of Serb municipalities is started as planned in the Brussels agreement.

He said that the Serbs would not allow themselves to be victims of the tolerant attitude of the international community towards, as he said, Kurti's outrageous behavior, which tramples not only the signature of Pristina but also the signature of the EU.

He believes that Kurti has so far shown that for him there is neither the EU, the Brussels Agreement, nor the Western great powers and that he is only interested in the independence of Kosovo at any cost.

"Most people want what they don't have, and for me, such behavior is psychologically completely understandable. They are far from that, they cannot get more than 83 out of 193 votes in the General Assembly of the United Nations," Dacic concluded.
