Djenovic: The main motive of the self-proclaimed priest is for his actions to become public
Religious analyst Drasko Djenovic assesses that the main motive behind the intrusion into the Church of St. Archangel Michael in the village of Rakitnice by the self-proclaimed priest Nikolla Xhufka is to gain publicity and that it is wisest to ignore such actions.
"These are marginal groups within the Orthodox Church that are not actually representatives of the Orthodox Church. I don't know if the gentleman in question has ever been ordained by any canonical church, but I think in his case, this is more an attempt to come into the public eye. It's something similar to certain circles within the Croatian Orthodox Church and even the Montenegrin Orthodox Church. These are churches that lack canonical status, that are not recognized, and essentially, they thrive on the media. That's why I say it's wisest to ignore their provocations and not mention them in the media at all, because simply without the media, they do not exist," Djenovic said to Kosovo Online, adding that "the more the media ignores them, the less reason they will have to create certain incidents”.
He emphasizes that Albanians are not predominantly Orthodox, and the potential creation of an Albanian Orthodox Church in Kosovo would not mean much to them.
"We know that all churches have certain financiers in one way or another. It's possible that he has some Albanian supporters from abroad who financially assist him; however, they won't continue to do so once they realize that what he is doing no longer has an impact on the media. Because it will be clear to them as well that the money spent on this is futile", Djenovic said.
