The president of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), Dragan Djilas, said that the solution to the Kosovo problem was wrong from the start, starting with Slobodan Milosevic, N1 reports.

Djilas pointed out that what we could do is talk.

"Solving the problem of Kosovo has been wrong from the beginning, starting with Slobodan Milosevic. What we can do is to talk, to talk about the flow of people, cooperation in sports, healthcare... For Serbia, there is no possibility of either recognizing Kosovo or consenting to Kosovo being a member UN. I think the question is how to live better here, how to join the EU, because the European Union doesn't need us, we need them," Djilas emphasized.

And a large percentage of citizens, he adds, do not to understand that.

"But a large number of citizens are still aware that this is a country that is an integral part of the European continent and that progress towards the EU is a guarantee for a better life and standard... It means a better standard of living, it means some order, less corruption, higher wages. If asked questions like that, I'm sure the citizens would be in favor of it. And those who claim that the condition for us to enter the EU will be the recognition of Kosovo, I tell them the same thing: do you think that Spain will ever say that the condition for joining the EU is the recognition of Kosovo? No, but when we meet the technical conditions and live better, then the great powers will have to find some formulation that will be acceptable to both," the SSP leader said.
