Djuric and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana on strengthening Serbia-Israel bilateral relations

Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met with Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana during his visit to Israel to discuss improving bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation, and current geopolitical issues.

“Djuric conveyed to his interlocutor his satisfaction with today’s meeting, especially as it is taking place in not so easy times for Israel, emphasizing its importance for strengthening ties between our countries. In that context, discussions also covered the launched strategic dialogue, as well as the importance of meetings and talks within this visit,” Serbia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Minister Djuric stressed that Serbia views Israel as a friendly country, emphasizing that relations between the two countries and peoples are bound by historical understanding.

Expressing confidence that the current visit will give additional momentum to overall relations and contribute to building even stronger ties, Djuric pointed to the importance of advancing political dialogue at various levels, which contributes to better mutual understanding and opens space for cooperation in numerous areas.

He also welcomed the initiative to establish an Israeli-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, assessing that it would be an important mechanism for connecting business communities and further strengthening economic ties.

“The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation as an important bridge for closer relations and better mutual understanding between the two peoples, especially bearing in mind the successful visit of the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, to Israel last year,” the statement said.

Djuric also used today’s meeting to invite Ohana to visit Belgrade.
