Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated this evening that seven decades of friendship between Serbia and China confirm that the two countries and peoples are connected by indissoluble ties, sincere friendship, deep understanding, and mutual respect. He emphasized that Serbia is particularly grateful to China for its principled stance on territorial integrity and the position regarding Kosovo, assuring that China can always count on Serbia's principled and active support for the One-China policy.

Addressing guests at the New Year's reception organized by the Chinese Embassy in Serbia to mark this significant bilateral anniversary, Djuric conveyed that these ties are rooted in shared values and responses to the challenges of today.

According to his statement, since establishing cooperation in January 1955, the two nations have successfully nurtured friendship and mutual trust and understanding.

Djuric expressed gratitude to Wang Yi, the head of Chinese diplomacy, and Chinese friends for the warm welcome during his recent official visit to China, highlighting that the discussions had reaffirmed the friendship between the two states and provided additional encouragement for further enhancing their exceptional bilateral relations.

"During my stay in China, I once again had the opportunity to witness the results of dynamic economic development, growth, and social stability, achieved through the implementation of policies derived from the thoughts of President Xi Jinping. These thoughts guide the Chinese people and the Chinese dream. I am confident that the CPC and its General Secretary will continue to achieve impressive results," stated the head of Serbian diplomacy.

The Minister emphasized that Serbia is proud of its exceptional relations with China, which are conducted under the banner of a comprehensive strategic partnership and ironclad friendship, recalling that these relations were elevated to the highest level in history during last year's historic visit of President Xi to Belgrade.

"I stress that the relations between our two friendly countries, as well as the numerous successes stemming from our cooperation, have been possible thanks to the relentless personal dedication of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and President of China Xi Jinping. Their close communication and personal friendship represent the backbone of our partnership," Djuric stated.

He explained that the two nations share values on the international stage such as a commitment to peace, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and advocacy for the political independence of states.

According to him, Serbia is particularly grateful to China for its principled position regarding our territorial integrity and our stance on Kosovo.

"The support of friendly China, as well as our coordinated actions in international organizations, are of vital importance to Serbia. At the same time, China can count on Serbia's principled and active support for the One-China policy," said Djuric.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also reflected on Sino-Serbian economic cooperation, reminding that its fruits include, among others, the "Mihajlo Pupin" bridge, numerous road and railway infrastructure projects, and achievements in the fields of mining and energy.

"Once again, I highlight the successes achieved in cooperation between our two countries, in all areas. I am confident that the firm friendship and bonds between the Serbian and Chinese peoples will contribute to making the world a better place for all," Djuric concluded, thanking the Chinese Ambassador Li Ming for his valuable work in further strengthening the ironclad friendship between our two nations.
