Djuric meets with Mirziyoyev: Gratitude to Uzbekistan for supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, thanking him for Uzbekistan’s support for the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Djuric and Mirziyoyev discussed strengthening ties between Belgrade and Tashkent, as well as bringing the two countries and peoples closer together.

Noting that bilateral relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan are traditionally good, friendly, and without outstanding issues, Djuric conveyed Serbia’s clear commitment to continuing and expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, according to a statement issued by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The interlocutors also reflected on last year’s visit of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic to Uzbekistan, noting the strong momentum it had generated in bilateral relations.

Minister Djuric conveyed President Vucic’s invitation to President Mirziyoyev to visit Serbia.

The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized that the two countries share very similar positions on many important international issues, underscoring the importance of maintaining and strengthening political dialogue at all levels.

Speaking about economic relations, Djuric noted that Uzbekistan, as a rapidly growing economy, represents an important partner for Serbia in that part of the world, and that there is a clear intention to further develop cooperation, increase overall trade exchange, and strengthen economic connectivity between the two countries.

In support of this, he highlighted the fact that Serbia and Uzbekistan recently concluded an Agreement on Economic Cooperation.

The Minister also stated that Serbia highly appreciates Uzbekistan’s confirmation of participation in the Specialized Expo 2027 exhibition, emphasizing that, as host, Serbia will make every effort to ensure that this country of rich culture and history is presented in the best possible manner.
