Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met today with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramchand Ramdin, during the 55th session of the General Assembly of this regional organization, held in Antigua and Barbuda.

Djuric emphasized that Serbia attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and that Serbia’s presence at this gathering confirms its commitment to building stronger ties with the region. He thanked the Secretary General for the support the OAS provides to Serbia as an observer state, stressing that Serbia has sincere partners within the Organization of American States.

The Serbian Foreign Minister noted that it is important for Serbia to actively participate in multilateral forums, especially those that promote dialogue and respect for international law. He also reiterated Serbia’s openness to cooperation in the areas of education, cultural exchange, and strengthening institutional ties.

Minister Djuric also invited other OAS member states that have not yet confirmed their participation to take part in the specialized international exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, which, as he pointed out, represents an opportunity for further strengthening of Serbia’s connections with the Latin American and Caribbean region, both in the fields of culture and in investment and technological cooperation.

The two officials agreed that there is room for more concrete forms of cooperation in the coming period, and Minister Djuric expressed his expectation that the dialogue between Serbia and the OAS will continue through regular contacts and participation in upcoming forums.
