Djuric: Open persecution of Patriarch Porfirije by the Kosovo authorities

Dangerous escalation and open persecution of His Holiness the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church by the Kosovo authorities, said Serbian Ambassador to the USA Marko Djuric, after Patriarch Porfirije was returned from Merdare and was not allowed to continue his journey to the Patriarchate of Pec.

Djuric stated on Twitter that this is a violation of basic human and religious rights.

"Dangerous escalation - open persecution of His Holiness the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church by the Kosovo authorities. The Kosovo police have just prevented His Holiness the Patriarch from entering Kosovo at the Merdare crossing. The violation of the basic human and religious rights of one of the leaders of global Christianity will further inflame the tensions created by Kurti's regime. Even a man of peace, such as the head of the Serbian Church, has now become a victim of Kurti's clique, which is looking for conflict," Djuric said.
