Rakovic: An unprecedented scandal, Kurti forbade Patriarch Porfirije to go to his own house

I knew he was on his way, but I really did not believe that the Pristina authorities would prevent Patriarch Porfirije from entering Kosovo, says historian Aleksandar Rakovic for Kosovo Online.

Rakovic says that "this is the biggest scandal that the Pristina authorities have done so far, considering that they did not allow the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church to go to his house, to the Patriarchate of Pec, the ancient seat of the Serbian patriarchs."

"This is an unusual scandal that shows that the authorities in Pristina will have no regard for anyone. No matter how conciliatory the patriarch's attitudes were towards Albanians, it is incomprehensible how they decided to take this step. The patriarch constantly emphasized the good will and coexistence of Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo. He always emphasized positive examples and affirmed the idea of talks between Serbs and Albanians, where others would not participate, especially those who would sow the apple of discord between the Serbian and Albanian people. Despite all this and his paternal concern for his population in Kosovo and Metohija, Kurti and his regime physically forbade him to enter Kosovo," says Raković.

Regarding the Kosovo government's request that "the patriarch must condemn the Serbs at the barricades, in order to be allowed to enter Kosovo", Rakovic states that such a thing will never happen.

"It was pointless to expect that the patriarch would condemn the barricades, but they had to write something and in that way to try to humiliate the Serbian people."
