Djuric: Serbia supports Trump’s peace initiative
Serbia supports the peace initiative of US President Donald Trump and demands that Hamas release all hostages, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said today after a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar. Sa’ar stressed that Israel has accepted Trump’s plan and that it is up to Hamas to end the war.
Pointing out that his meeting with Sa’ar took place just a few hours after US President Donald Trump held an important meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of immense historical significance, Djuric expressed support for Trump’s peace initiative.
“Serbia welcomes and supports Trump’s peace initiative and demands that Hamas immediately release all hostages and that the proposed provisions be fully implemented,” the Serbian foreign minister underlined.
He also reminded that Serbian-Israeli citizen Alon Ohel has been in Hamas captivity for more than 800 days, under conditions that, as he said, are unbelievably harsh and horrific for any human being.
“There is no justification for not releasing all the hostages,” Minister Djuric said.
Sa’ar: Israel has accepted Trump’s plan, it is up to Hamas to end the war
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stressed that Israel has accepted the plan of US President Donald Trump for a better future.
“We have always wanted this war to end and we are committed to the goals set by the security cabinet. Those who have so far refused to end the war are those who started everything on October 7, and that is Hamas. Hamas is solely responsible for its continuation, and for the suffering and casualties of Palestinians,” Sa’ar said.
He emphasized that it will now be seen whether Hamas will accept Trump’s plan.
“We want our hostages to come home after two years. We want to see a different Gaza – deradicalized and demilitarized, one that poses no threat to Israel,” Sa’ar stressed.
He thanked Serbia for protecting the Jewish community and for supporting Israel in difficult times.
Trump and Netanyahu met in Washington, and after the meeting, the US President presented a peace plan for Gaza and said that peace is very close.
He added that Netanyahu had accepted the proposed peace plan and that he felt Hamas would also give a positive response.
