Djuric with representatives of American Jewish Organizations: Appeal for the release of Alon Ohel
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric met today in New York with representatives of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to discuss strengthening Serbia’s relations with Jewish communities in the United States.
The meeting included an exchange of views on current global issues, Serbia’s position and role in the region and the world, as well as opportunities to further enhance cooperation with Jewish communities in the United States and beyond.
Djuric emphasized the long-standing tradition of friendship between the Serbian and Jewish peoples, as well as Serbia’s strong commitment to preserving the culture of remembrance and combating all forms of antisemitism.
The participants expressed readiness to intensify dialogue in the period ahead and to consider new initiatives that would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations and shared values, according to the statement from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The discussion also touched on current global and regional challenges.
Attention was drawn to the difficult situation and suffering of the hostages, including Serbian-Israeli citizen Alon Ohel, who, along with other hostages in Gaza, has been held captive by Hamas since October 7, 2023.
On this occasion, an appeal was once again made for their release.
