Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met with the newly appointed EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, and on this occasion emphasized the extremely difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo.

Djuric stated that Pristina persistently refuses to fulfill the obligations it assumed under the Brussels Agreement and that Albin Kurti’s regime has openly declared that it does not want to enable the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

Djuric met with the new EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Expressing satisfaction with today’s meeting, Djuric congratulated Sorensen on assuming this position, emphasizing its importance not only for Serbia but for the entire region, as stated by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that Belgrade expects good cooperation with the special representative and will continue to be a constructive partner in the dialogue.

As he also added, he hopes for a meeting in Belgrade soon.

“During the conversation, Djuric pointed out the extremely difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, stating that Pristina persistently refuses to fulfill the obligations it assumed under the Brussels Agreement and that Albin Kurti’s regime has openly declared that it does not want to enable the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities – a key element of the First Brussels Agreement,” the statement said.

As the minister emphasized, Belgrade expects the EU Special Representative’s engagement to be focused on creating conditions for the implementation of agreed commitments and fostering a productive dialogue in the process of normalizing relations.

"Serbia is interested in the progress and development of all communities in the region," Djuric stated.
