Drecun: New plan of the "big five" to unblock the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue

President of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, stated that from the statement of the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, it could be concluded that the "big five" had a new plan to unblock the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, RTV reports.

"This new plan is aimed at progress and achieving the implementation of the basic agreement on normalization and the Ohrid Agreement annex. For us, it's still just a proposal for a normalization agreement, and it's related to de-escalation," Drecun said for Tanjug.

He emphasized that Lajcak's statement suggested they had a new plan to unblock the blocked dialogue, to realize what their strategic goal was, which President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic had talked about.

"The objectives of this new plan are completely different when it comes to Belgrade on one side, and Pristina and these four, that is, five leading Western countries on the other," Drecun said.

Drecun stressed that their goal was strategic, "and they want to force Serbia to recognize the false state of Kosovo".

"That is Pristina's goal, and that is why Kurti says that he insists on discussing more to implement what they call an agreement, but what we say is not an agreement for us," Drecun said.

He explained that they wanted to fulfill this goal in two phases.

"The first phase is related to the proposal of the basic agreement and relates to allowing the false state of Kosovo to become a member of all international organizations, that Belgrade does not object and that we treat them as some kind of state, in other words, that we de facto recognize them. In the second phase, the goal is to make a legally binding agreement on normalizing relations, which would include legally defined recognition, in other words, they are chasing the recognition of the false state of Kosovo," Drecun said.

He also emphasized that statements from the West suggested an urgent need for the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

"The second statement is related to what happened in Banjska and that Belgrade must actively participate in the investigation. Our side is already working on ensuring that those responsible must be punished," Drecun said.
