Durmishi: Construction of two new bridges over the Ibar to begin soon

The construction of two new bridges over the Ibar River will begin soon, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure in a caretaker capacity, Hysen Durmishi, announced, though he did not specify an exact start date, as reported by Indeks Online.

"We are in the process of preparing for the construction of the bridges. It is not yet known when exactly it will start, but it will be very soon," Durmishi said.

The construction of the two new bridges over the Ibar River is based on a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Government of Kosovo and the municipalities of North and South Mitrovica. Recently, the Self-Determination Movement shared on social media where the bridges are planned to be built.

It is worth recalling that an EU spokesperson stated in a written response to Kosovo Online that any decision regarding infrastructure construction across the Ibar River must be made carefully.

"The EU is neither informed about this project nor involved in it. Any decision to build infrastructure across the Ibar River must be made carefully and inclusively, with the full involvement of all communities affected by it," the EU spokesperson stated.
