KFOR: Announcements of two new bridges are outside our jurisdiction, we remain at the main bridge on the Ibar

The KFOR mission in Kosovo stated that the announcement by Self-Determination regarding the construction of two new bridges on the Ibar River, parallel to the old bridge in Mitrovica, falls outside KFOR’s jurisdiction, but that the mission will remain engaged in ensuring security around the bridge, Gazeta Express reports.
KFOR made this statement in response to a question about whether they are aware of the plans of the technical government.
"The issue you raised does not fall under KFOR’s jurisdiction. For any comments, we refer you to the relevant institutions," said the KFOR spokesperson.
However, KFOR clarified that its troops will continue to maintain a constant presence at the main bridge on the Ibar and regularly patrol the surrounding areas in order to provide a peaceful and secure environment.
"KFOR maintains a permanent presence at the main bridge on the Ibar and regularly patrols the surrounding areas to ensure a safe and secure environment," the spokesperson added.
Regarding the northern part of Mitrovica and other areas of Kosovo, KFOR emphasized that it continues to maintain a visible and flexible military presence and is ready to respond to any significant security developments in the interest of all communities in Kosovo.
"KFOR continues to carry out its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999—to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, as well as to freedom of movement," the Mission concluded.
