Elek: Special police units intercepted our ambulance, and told workers that any terrorist could wear a white coat

Members of the special Kosovo Police stopped an ambulance from the Kosovska Mitrovica Clinical Hospital Center early this morning, ejecting medical workers from the vehicle at gunpoint and making threats, stating that "any terrorist can wear a white coat", the Director of the Kosovska Mitrovica Clinical Hospital Center, Zlatan Elek, confirmed for Kosovo Online.

The workers were released after a search, but according to Elek, this is just another form of pressure on medical workers who are diligently and honorably doing their jobs.

"During last night's shift, medical workers from the Clinical Hospital Center who were returning from the field in Belgrade, where they were transporting a patient, were stopped by members of the special police, who ordered them to leave the vehicle. During the search, the police officers asked them for their badges and told them that any terrorist could wear a white coat and ride in an ambulance. This is another form of pressure on my colleagues who diligently and conscientiously perform this job. We are forced to transport patients to Belgrade to exercise their rights to treatment, and such actions by the police instill fear in both patients and employees of the Clinical Hospital Center," Dr. Elek said.
