EU: Deputy Speaker from the Serbian Community must be elected in accordance with the Constitution

The European Union welcomed the fact that, after months of deadlock, the Kosovo Assembly has finally elected its Speaker, reiterating its call for the swift completion of the full constitution of the legislative body through the election of a deputy speaker representing the Serbian community, stressing that this must be done in line with the Constitution and relevant rules.

“The European Union is encouraged by the fact that the Speaker of the Assembly has finally been elected, and reiterates its call for the swift constitution of the Assembly through the election of a deputy speaker representing the Serbian community. This must be done fully in accordance with the letter and spirit of the Constitution and relevant rules,” the EU stated.

They also called on political representatives to cooperate and secure the necessary majority in the interest of Kosovo, “its multiethnic society, and its European future”, Reporteri reports.
