The recent verbal attacks by the authorities on the Constitutional Court of Kosovo are a cause for serious concern, the European Union Office in Kosovo told Kosovo Online.

"The unique role of the Constitutional Court as the cornerstone of democratic governance and the highest authority on constitutional matters must be respected. The Court’s decisions and rulings must be respected by all," the statement read, referring to the accusations made by the Kosovo authorities against Constitutional Court Judge Radomir Laban, as well as criticism of the Court’s decision regarding the formation of the Assembly.

Kosovo’s caretaker Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, stated that the Constitutional Court’s decision is a matter of serious concern, claiming that the Court had overstepped its authority and taken powers away from the parliament.

Haxhiu also called for proceedings to be initiated for the dismissal of Constitutional Court Judge Radomir Laban, alleging that he had been involved in criminal activities and poses “a threat to the constitutional order of Kosovo.”
