Following the raid by the Kosovo Police on the security offices of the Clinical Hospital Center (KBC) Kosovska Mitrovica and the Kosovska Mitrovica Health Center, the European Union Office in Kosovo stated that it fully understands the concerns of the population in the north, given the importance of healthcare for every community.

In its response to Kosovo Online, the EU Office in Kosovo emphasized that all actions which could affect the functioning of healthcare institutions must be avoided, in line with Kosovo’s obligations toward the EU.

They recalled that the EU has repeatedly stated that the status of Serbia-run health institutions in Kosovo is to be resolved in line with the EU facilitated Dialogue, agreements reached therein, and the Kosovo law.

“Given the importance of healthcare to any community, we fully understand the concerns among the population in the north. All actions that can affect the work of healthcare institutions must be avoided in line with Kosovo’s commitments  vis-à-vis the EU,” the EU Office stated.

Last night, members of the Kosovo Police entered the security premises of KBC Kosovska Mitrovica and the Kosovska Mitrovica Health Center, after which the Serb List contacted the embassies of all Quint countries, the EU Mission, UNMIK, OSCE, and KFOR, requesting the urgent deployment of KFOR and EULEX personnel in the immediate vicinity of healthcare and educational institutions to prevent such intrusions, which endanger the operation of institutions and the treatment of citizens.
