Former head of EULEX Bancroft condemned the statement of British MP Kearns

The former head of EULEX for the North and British expert on the Balkans, Ian Bancroft, condemned the statement of British MP Alicia Kearns, who yesterday commented on the situation in the north of Kosovo, stating that international actors supported "armed militia".

"'Armed militia' is a misleading and irresponsible use of the language by Alicia Kearns. Words matter. A retraction would be most helpful given the tensions on the ground that NATO and KFOR, and others are working hard to diffuse," Bancroft wrote.

In her post, Kearns commented on the situation in the north of Kosovo and said that "international actors should stop before attacking the democratically elected officials who hold their positions in the north of Kosovo".

She said that she supported the "armed militia" in their actions and added that international officials were silent when "armed Serbia continues to undermine stability in the north of Kosovo".
