Garic: Serbs will take matters into their own hands

The editor-in-chief of the Kosovo Online portal, Milos Garic, assessed that after the violent actions of the Kosovo Police, Serbs in northern Kosovo are pressed to organize themselves and govern their municipalities independently, outside the Pristina system.

"The actions of Albanians with long guns and stun grenades will not be accepted by the Serbs. They refuse to live in fear and under coercion. Those in Pristina are sorely mistaken. What Kurti is doing, ultimately, works against him," Garic said in a special program on RTS dedicated to the new crisis in Kosovo.

The Serbs, he said, will take matters into their own hands.

"We have plenty of reasons to be concerned about security, but this is the path toward what Pristina refers to as the Republika Srpska in Kosovo, and they will achieve it because Serbs will take matters into their own hands," Garic said, among other things.

When asked whether a reaction from Western mediators could be expected to influence Kurti to change his policies, Garic said he does not expect that.

"At this moment, dialogue is impossible, utterly pointless, and merely serves as a cover for Kurti's anti-Serb actions on the ground. Neither will Kurti change his policies nor will the West change its approach. Ultimately, they have the same goal, so why would they stop someone who is doing their job on the ground?" Garic concluded.
