Milivojevic: We have entered the most dangerous phase regarding Kosovo
Diplomat Zoran Milivojevic stated that he had expected what happened yesterday in northern Kosovo to occur because the authorities in Pristina had been tolerated for a long time.
"In the past year, we have tolerated a regime that has taken measures and actions to bring about this situation and to affirm Kosovo's statehood in a way that is not political and that is not in line with international law or any law in general. So, for me, this is not a surprise," Milivojevic said in an interview with RTS.
He points out that this is a continuation of Albin Kurti's policies, which he has been promoting since his first day in power.
According to him, the key issue is the lack of reaction from international actors such as UNMIK and KFOR, who are not fulfilling their mandates.
"I believe this is the most dangerous phase we have entered when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija because I recognize this inaction, which leads to a change in the factual situation, and the change in the factual situation goes in the direction of what Kurti ultimately wants," Milivojevic said.
He believes that there is a consensus of interests regarding the ultimate goal, with the only difference being in tactics and approach.
"I think that the dialogue mediated by Miroslav Lajcak no longer makes any sense. Now it is evident how crucial the CSM issue is. It must be resolved, and that is the only way to control the situation, along with the return to the previous state, going back to what caused all of this – the CSM, the return of Serbs to institutions, elections – and then we can talk about normalization," Milivojevic stated.
