General Hokanson to Vucic: Without your leadership, peace and stability would be endangered
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, held talks in Belgrade today with the Chief of the National Guard Bureau of the United States, General Daniel Hokanson, regarding further strengthening the partnership, friendship, and trust between the Armed Forces of Serbia and the United States.
According to the statement from the Presidency, Vucic emphasized that while maintaining its military neutrality, Serbia is ready to enhance its cooperative relationship with the US military to uphold peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Discussing the latest developments in Kosovo and Metohija, President Vucic provided General Hokanson with detailed information on the causes of the escalation of violence and, in that context, expressed gratitude for the engagement and clear messages from the US side in calming tensions provoked by unilateral acts of the Pristina authorities, as stated in the press release.
It is highlighted that General Hokanson thanked President Vucic for his leadership in a challenging situation, without which peace and stability in the region would be endangered. He also recognized the significant contribution of the Serbian Armed Forces to peacekeeping missions worldwide.
During the meeting, various concrete ways of defense cooperation between Serbia and the US were discussed.
President Vucic also wrote on Instagram, stating that cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the US National Guard is the foundation for peace and stability in the region.
"A very good conversation with General Daniel Hokanson about further strengthening the partnership, friendship, and trust between our armed forces. The cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the US National Guard provides a strong impetus for improving overall relations between Serbia and the US and represents an important basis for peace and stability in the region," Vucic wrote.
