The German MP visited the boys wounded on Christmas Eve in Gotovusa
Today, a member of the German Bundestag, Zaklin Nastic, visited the young men who were shot by a member of the Kosovo Security Forces on Christmas Eve in Gotovusa near Strpce and called for a trial in accordance with the criminal offense of attempted murder.
Nastic visited Stefan and Milos Stojanovic and inquired about their condition after the traumatic event during a major religious holiday.
"It is unheard of that in the middle of Europe, on Orthodox Christmas Eve, an eleven-year-old boy and a 21-year-old young man were shot by a member of the Kosovo Security Forces just because of their religion. The fact that this man is no longer charged with attempted murder, but only with disturbing public peace, is unimaginable," the member of the Bundestag emphasized for Kosovo Online.
The perpetrator, who had used a service weapon, was now only under house arrest and had not even been discharged from military service, she reminded.
"This leaves me speechless. Anyone who recognizes Kosovo as a democratic state has a responsibility to ensure that it functions. This clearly includes ensuring that this attempted murder is prosecuted according to the rule of law. Moreover, there is evidence that religious freedoms in Kosovo have been brought into question. Pristina has the responsibility to ensure peace, the rule of law, and religious freedom for all citizens of Kosovo," Nastic said.
She pointed out that she expected the German government to make a clear statement about this attack, as well as the increasingly frequent attacks on the Serbs in Kosovo, and to put pressure on the government in Pristina to ensure respect for human rights and the rule of law for everyone in Kosovo.
