Gervalla: The opening of the Ibar Bridge will make it a symbol of reconciliation

Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla, stated that the Ibar Bridge should be opened, as only in that way, she emphasized, can it be transformed into a symbol of reconciliation, Klan Kosova reports.

At a joint press conference with Finland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, Gervalla said that "Kosovo is committed to enforcing the rule of law in every part of its territory, guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens, regardless of their ethnicity."

"The rule of law is essential for Kosovo's internal stability. During the meeting, we discussed North Mitrovica and the main bridge on the Ibar. This bridge, which for many years symbolized division and disunity, must be opened, and only then can it be transformed into a symbol of reconciliation and unity," Gervalla said.

She also highlighted that she had spoken with Valtonen about Kosovo's NATO membership.

"NATO's role remains vital for the stability of our region. I thanked the Minister for Finland's important role within KFOR. We are committed to strengthening our relationship with NATO. Kosovo's goal is full membership in NATO, and this remains a strategic objective, where Finland’s recent membership serves as an example we closely follow," Gervalla emphasized.
