Gori: The meeting between Vucic and Kurti is a step forward, to implementing all the agreements reached

Italian Ambassador to Serbia Luca Gori said that this week's meeting between the leaders of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels represented a step forward in the process of normalizing relations between the two sides and pointed out the importance of implementing all agreements reached in the dialogue, Danas reports.

In an interview with the Beta News agency, Gori said that the European proposal for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina was an opportunity that had to be used and added that Italy, from that point of view, appreciated the realistic and constructive attitude of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

On the occasion of the meeting between Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Monday, where they reached an Agreement on the Road to Normalization of Relations, Gori said that there was still a lot to be done in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, above all on the implementation of what had been agreed and finalization of the agreement.

"Obligations assumed by the parties, through agreements already reached within the framework of the dialogue, including the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities in Kosovo, must be implemented," Gori said.

He added that this was an important step, which was emphasized in the letter that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, together with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, sent to President Vucic and Prime Minister Kurti before the meeting.

"We are convinced that the agreements signed by Belgrade and Pristina must be fully implemented. Therefore, we believe that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities should be formed without further delay, in accordance with the provisions of the Brussels Agreement," Gori said.

Asked whether the South Tyrol model could be acceptable to both sides as a solution for the autonomy of northern Kosovo, Gori said that "there are many models that can serve as an example".

"The one implemented in South Tyrol has concretely shown that it can work and can serve, together with other solutions used in other European countries, as an inspiration. However, it is up to Belgrade and Pristina to decide," Gori said.
