Halimi: Peace and stability are a priority; Kosovo needs a transparent prime minister

The spokeswoman of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo, Sibel Halimi, emphasized that peace and security should be a priority and that Kosovo needs a prime minister who would negotiate on behalf of the citizens and who would be transparent about the dialogue with Serbia.

Halimi pointed out on Facebook that, as important as the issue of license plates was, it is incomparable to the precaution that the Kosovo government had to show towards its allies and to the peaceful spirit that, as she stated, it had to maintain.

"A careful and accessible narrative brings the normality we need so much. Wisdom in leadership, prudence in attitudes, and foresight in decision-making preserve and develop the country. While folklore and virtual 'patriotism' is short-sighted, the consequences of which we may not feel today, but later", she pointed out.

According to her words, Kosovo had to maintain good relations with its allies.

"The citizens of Kosovo need a prime minister who is, first of all, transparent, and who informs them in which direction the dialogue process is heading. Second, the prime minister must negotiate on our behalf, bearing in mind our painful history that we have gone through as a nation, from where we created the strategic alliances that we have today. These alliances are not taken for granted, they are not guaranteed. They must be preserved and maintained, building cooperative relationships with our allies, the US and the EU," she wrote.

As she stated, Serbian license plates should have been suspended first.

"Mutual recognition, sovereignty, and territorial protection would necessarily create the realization of the idea of license plates. License plates should be suspended before the start of the meeting in Brussels. By creating such a situation, we have a transformation of the image of Serbian politics in the eyes of international partners, from an aggressor to a victim, and that by no means should not happen," Halimi said.
