Haxhiu demands that the MPs vote on the unification of Kosovo and Albania at a joint session
Member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Haxhiu, proposed that at the joint session of the parliaments of Albania and Kosovo, the MPs vote for unification in the "Confederation of the Albanian State".
Haxhiu said in a post on Facebook that it was time for important decisions.
"After Kosovo marked 14 years as a sovereign and independent state, it is time we, elected by the people of Kosovo and Albania, vote on this 110th anniversary of Albania's independence for the unification into the Confederation of Albanian States, Albania and Kosovo. To unite into one state, with one Government, with one Senate, with two congresses. It is time for important decisions for our nation to preserve the Albanian identity and to be together where we belong in the European Union," Haxhiu said.
Haxhiu asked the President of the Parliament of Albania Lindita Nikolla and the President of the Parliament of Kosovo Glauk Konjufca to introduce voting for "the union of Albania and Kosovo into the Confederation of the Albanian State" at tomorrow's meeting.
"This is the right path, it is the legacy of the martyrs of the Albanian people over the centuries who have laid a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom, with the ideal of national unity," Haxhiu said.
