Haxhiu: Kosovo cannot oppose Serbia without the US and NATO

Bekim Haxhiu, a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), stated that Kosovo cannot "develop military strength" or oppose Serbia without the support of the United States and NATO, which is why he believes that membership in the Alliance should be the main goal of Prime Minister Albin Kurti and any future government, as reported by Dukagjini.

"If anyone thinks that Kosovo can build an army without the US and NATO, they are mistaken. The Kumanovo Agreement and partnership with NATO are crucial elements that guarantee the sovereignty of Kosovo, and membership in the Alliance would help in rebuilding national security," Haxhiu said.

He emphasized that the Kosovo government violates the constitution and promotes nepotism and corruption.

He described Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet as an "authoritarian government that violates the law and covers up such behavior with a facade of moral political dedication."

"All post-war governments have not violated the Constitution as much as this government has done in these two and a half years," Haxhiu said.

As he stated, Kurti is responsible for the tensions in northern Kosovo, not the newly elected mayors, and he highlighted that it is challenging for the opposition to maintain a consistent critical stance against the uncontrolled actions of the Kosovo Prime Minister.

Haxhiu reproached Kurti for not visiting the mayor Lulzim Hetemi, who has not left the municipal building in Leposavic for a month, stating that he does not have the courage to do so.

He also mentioned that Hetemi will not step down from his position, even with Kurti's decision.

"Kurti's resignation would be more normal than the withdrawal of the northern mayors," Haxhiu added.
