Hill: The US looks forward to continuing cooperation with the Serbian Government
Ambassador of the United States Christopher Hill stated that the US Government looked forward to continuing cooperation with the Serbian Government on issues of mutual interest. He added that the deficiencies discovered by international observers during the elections should be addressed through institutions.
Hill posted a message on the social network "X" regarding the elections in Serbia because, as he said, he had received many questions on the topic in recent days.
According to him, the mutual interests of the United States and Serbia involve regional issues and Serbia's desire to fully become part of the family of Western nations.
"There are still many things Serbia needs to achieve to be ready for that journey, one of which is the rule of law. Elections are a stress test for democracy in every country, but without elections, there is no democracy," he said.
Hill noted that international observers in Serbia had discovered many deficiencies in these elections.
He emphasized the importance of Serbia working with international institutions, such as the OSCE, to address those issues.
"For every country, it is necessary to have a kind of resilience to recover from those moments after elections when participants are not very satisfied with each other," Hill stated.
As he added, Serbia needs to address these issues through institutions to become a stronger country.
