Hovenier: At the moment, there are no conditions for holding the elections in the north of Kosovo

The US ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, says that the US condemns those who used violence during yesterday's incidents in the north of Kosovo and also expresses concern about the upcoming elections.

He stated on Twitter that endangering lives through violence, intimidation and the use of explosive devices was not the way to protest.

"The United States condemns those who used violence during yesterday's incidents in the north of Kosovo. Resorting to violence and intimidation, including the use of explosive devices, and endangering lives is never an appropriate method of protest, under any circumstances. The US is concerned that there are currently no conditions for holding the elections later this month in the north of Kosovo. The safety and security of all citizens of Kosovo should be the highest priority. We ask everyone involved to exercise restraint," Hovenier said.
