The US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier visited Peja today, where he toured the Patriarchate of Peja, the "Memory and Friendship" Memorial center, attended the opening of a retail center, and spoke with Kosovo judo athletes.

Hovenier stated on the social network "X" that it was always a pleasure for him to visit Peja.

"I appreciate the warm welcome and the opportunity to revisit the historic Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate, which is under UNESCO protection, and reflect as we view its magnificent frescoes", the US Ambassador wrote.

He added that it was an honor to visit the September 11 Memorial "Memory and Friendship", which contained a piece of steel beam from the World Trade Center donated by the city of New York. He expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Peja for the initiative to erect the monument, with a message to never forget that date.

He also stated that he was pleased to participate in the grand opening of the American Retail Park, a significant private investment.

"This retail center will employ hundreds of people and bring some of the most popular textile, gastronomic, and service companies to Peja", Hovenier said confidently.

He visited the judo center as well.

"I also enjoyed visiting the National Judo Center in Peja to see how elite Kosovo judo athletes train. I personally congratulate some Kosovo Olympic champions - I look forward to seeing these athletes compete in Paris 2024", Hovenier noted.
