Hoxhaj: Kurts and Osmani are sometimes not aware of how Kosovo was declared an independent state

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Enver Hoxhaj said that one of the most deserving people for avoiding the escalation of the situation in the north of Kosovo is US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, assessing that "Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani are not aware of Kosovo's path to independence in some cases" Demokracia reports.

"I think that the American international partners are extremely determined to protect the sovereignty of Kosovo and if there is someone who had great merit in preventing the escalation of the situation in the north of the country, to protect Kosovo as an American investment, I think it is the US ambassador Jeff Hovenier. I don't know how the prime minister Kurti and President Osmani can understand it correctly. Sometimes they don't know how this country was declared independent, how it was built as an independent country, what happened at the negotiations in Vienna, Rambouillet, they have no memories and experience," he told for TV1.

According to him, if Kurti had listened to the American ambassador about postponing the decision on license plates, maybe the situation would have been different in the north of Kosovo.

He said that Kosovo has not only Serbia as an enemy, but also Russia and China.

"Here it happened by mistake, here it was thought that the sovereignty of Kosovo can be achieved without partnership, and we who have been in the government for a long time know that sometimes our opponents in the opposition called partnership servility. But I believe that in recent days they have convinced themselves that with new small states, the exercise of sovereignty goes together with our partners because Kosovo does not only have Serbia as an enemy, but also Russia and China," he said.
