The Italian Embassy in Kosovo has expressed concern over the Kosovo authorities closing nine branches of the Serbian Post in northern Kosovo. They state that this action was taken by the Kosovo Police without any consultation or consideration of the impact it will have on the citizens, Albanian Post reports.

"We are concerned about the actions taken by the Kosovo authorities to close Serbian Post offices in northern Kosovo without any prior consultations or consideration of the impact this closure will have on ordinary citizens, who greatly depend on these facilities to meet their communication needs," the Italian embassy said in a written response to Albanian Post.

They add that it is necessary for the Government of Kosovo to engage in meaningful and constructive dialogue to resolve contentious issues and that the negotiating process led by the European Union represents the appropriate channel for addressing such bilateral problems in a balanced and comprehensive manner.

"Only through an approach of mutual respect and a willingness to find common solutions can we overcome these tensions and ensure the continuity of essential services for the entire population, regardless of ethnic or national affiliation. In this context, it is crucial for both sides to demonstrate a sincere commitment to dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts," the Italian Embassy concludes.
