Stano: Closing of serbian post offices is a violation of dialogue agreements
The European Union considers today's closure of nine Serbian Post offices in northern Kosovo by Kosovo authorities to be a unilateral and uncoordinated action, thereby violating agreements reached within the EU-mediated dialogue, said EU spokesperson Peter Stano.
"Under the Telecommunications Agreement reached in 2013 and the Action Plan agreed upon in 2015, both sides agreed to discuss postal services 'at a later stage,' recognizing that this issue can only be resolved within the framework of the dialogue. This was once again acknowledged today by the Kosovo Regulatory Authority for Electronic and Postal Services," Stano reminded in a statement.
The EU, he emphasized, is ready to include this issue on the agenda of the next dialogue meeting.
"The European Union expects the parties to develop constructive ideas that could serve as a basis for solutions. Unilateral and uncoordinated actions cannot offer solutions for this or any other issue that falls within the process of normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia. The closure of existing services for Kosovo Serbs, without any new, previously agreed-upon arrangement, will further negatively impact the daily life and living conditions of this community," Stano warned.
He called on the Kosovo government to reconsider its decision and find a solution for this issue within the dialogue framework.
