Kamberi: Difficult to make progress in dialogue; Pristina demands recognition of symbols, Belgrade insists on CSM

Political analyst Belgzim Kamberi tells Kosovo Online that significant progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, or in the implementation of the Brussels-Ohrid Agreement, cannot be expected at this moment, due to the upcoming elections in Kosovo in February, as well as the incomplete transitions of power in the United States and within European Union institutions following EU elections.
"We can hardly expect any major results. The meeting on December 17 will be a continuation of some formal dialogue. The dialogue has been stuck on the Implementation Plan, or rather the sequential plan. Pristina is demanding that Belgrade recognize Kosovo’s symbols and make progress toward Kosovo’s inclusion in international organizations. On the other hand, Belgrade insists that the decree on the CSM be sent to the Constitutional Court first. In this situation and with these tactics, no significant progress can be expected," Kamberi stated.
He also expressed doubt that a high-level meeting between Albin Kurti and Aleksandar Vucic could take place by the end of the year.
"Not only is Prime Minister Kurti unlikely to be willing to meet President Vucic before the elections, but it is also unlikely that President Vucic has time to meet with Prime Minister Kurti due to the circumstances and recent events in Belgrade and the tragedy in Novi Sad," Kamberi concluded.
