Political analyst Obrad Kesic stated that the initiation of a strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States is an important step toward resuming the level of cooperation the two countries had toward the end of Donald Trump’s first term, when Serbia was the most significant US partner in the Western Balkans.

"The momentum was entirely on Serbia’s side during the previous Trump administration. By the end of that term, Serbia had taken the position of the most important US partner in the Western Balkans. The sooner this communication is established and serious cooperation begins, the better," Kesic told Kosovo Online.

He explains that the agenda of the new US administration involves addressing internal issues, many of which are also connected to relations with other countries worldwide.

"In this context, regions that are not the focus of US attention and are not tied to its vital interests could remain in the shadows, and the Western Balkans falls into this group. That is why it is crucial for Serbia to establish contact at the highest possible level and strive to position itself. This is especially important for negotiations with Pristina, but also to reaffirm itself as the most reliable partner in the agenda defined by the new US president," Kesic emphasized.

He points out that this is Trump’s anti-globalist agenda.

"This absolutely suits not only Serbia but also Republika Srpska and the Serbian people," Kesic concluded.
