Koci: The US reaction to the attempt to ban the Serb List is the sharpest so far toward Kosovo
Political analyst Melazim Koci said that the reaction of the US Embassy in Pristina to the efforts of the Self-Determination Movement not to certify the Serb List for the December 28 elections is the sharpest reaction American diplomacy has ever used toward Kosovo, Koha reports.
Stating that the US Embassy said that "its interests are threatened," Koci assessed that the embassy has never issued a harsher reaction.
"This time, the reaction of the US Embassy is extraordinary. It has never happened that the embassy says that the interests of the United States in Kosovo are threatened. This is the first time. If we speak in the context of international relations, this is the highest level of articulation of American diplomacy toward a country. There is no harsher qualification," Koci said, as reported by Koha.
He added that there have been reactions in the past, but such a sharp qualification has never been used.
"This is the sharpest possible qualification," Koci emphasized.
The United States Embassy in Kosovo criticized the Self-Determination Movement, saying that its efforts not to certify the Serb List for the December 28 elections are shortsighted and divisive.
In a reaction published on social media, the embassy stated that such actions harm the stability of Kosovo, as well as US interests, including the continuation of the strategic dialogue between Kosovo and the US, which has been suspended since September of this year due to "actions by the government led by the current Prime Minister Albin Kurti that have increased tensions."
