Krtinic: Request for submitting a petition and dismissal of the mayor rejected, reasons are senseless
A citizen of the municipality of North Mitrovica, Sanja Krtinic, confirmed to Kosovo Online that the request for submitting a petition and the dismissal of the mayor in northern Kosovo, which had been submitted last week to the President of the Assembly of the Municipality of North Mitrovica, Nexhat Uglanin, had been rejected today.
Krtinic emphasized that she had received the same information from her colleagues and friends from Zvecan.
"On this occasion, I want to inform that we did receive an official response from the chairman of the Assembly of the Municipality of North Mitrovica, Nexhat Uglanin, that our request for submitting a petition and the dismissal of the mayor of the Municipality of North Mitrovica has been rejected. We received the same information from our associates, colleagues, and friends from the municipality of Zvecan. The reasons given are completely absurd, I must emphasize, and this only shows us how much democracy is present here, how much their laws, which they have written, are respected, and what rights we, Serbs, have. What I want to emphasize is that despite all our efforts, we have not succeeded in this", Krtinic said.
She stated that a photo of the request had leaked from the Municipality of North Mitrovica and had been published by Albanian media.
"They submitted this request with our full names, surnames, and other personal information, and this is truly something we need to point out because it is a violation of all basic human rights. It is clear to us that this regime does not want and obstructs the dismissal of mayors in all four municipalities in northern Kosovo, and that every effort we make is in vain, at least it has been proven so far. This regime simply wants to leave these mayors in office, and thereby harass the citizens of those municipalities", Krtinic said.
She emphasized that they would inform the public about further steps because, as she said, they would not stop at this.
