Kryeziu: What more does the EU want from Kosovo?

After the spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, said that the measures against the Government of Kosovo had been introduced due to their inability to "start behaving in a European manner and to de-escalate the situation", the spokesperson of the Kosovo Government, Perparim Kryeziu, asked the European Union - what more it wanted from Kosovo.

Kryeziu stated that the Government of Kosovo considered that the three demands of the EU which stemmed from the agreement between Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and EU Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak in Bratislava had been met, for the de-escalation of the situation in the north.

According to him, the Government has fulfilled the first two steps by withdrawing 50 percent of the police in and around the municipal buildings in the north, and the third step is in the process of being fulfilled, because, he says, the Government has formed a Working Group responsible for drafting administrative instructions that enable early elections.

"Kosovo respects the agreement with the EU. An important question that needs to be raised is what Serbia has done to de-escalate the situation from what the EU itself originally asked for, together with the question of what more the EU is asking from Kosovo. We said that the measures against Kosovo were unfair and we expect them to be removed as soon as possible, especially after the progress in the implementation of the Brastislava Agreement, but also after the improvement of the situation on the ground," Kryeziu said.
